Meet The Speakers
JACKIE ARMITAGEJackie has been the Spa Manager of The Spa at the Oyster Box for the past seven years. The Spa has won numerous national and international awards. Jackie herself has won the following accolades since being with the Oyster Box: Professional Beauty Spa Manager of the Year 2013; and the
Les Nouvelles Spa Manager Excellence Award in 2014. She has also been involved in the opening and training of spa staff at one of the Red Carnation Group of Hotel Properties at Ashford Castle, Ireland. Prior to working for The Oyster Box, Jackie was Group Spa Training & Development Manager for a group of spas in the Maldives. She began her career in the spa industry over 15 years ago, where she worked on cruise liners, as well as for various international spas. Jackie has a great passion for the industry.
JULANDA MARAIS As Manager of the Spa at Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg, Julanda is responsible for managing a diverse team that is committed to attention to detail and ultimate luxury. After studying beauty at Isa Carstens Academy and working on a cruise liner for Steiner, as well as
The World Spa by Clinique La Prairie, she joined the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon as a spa therapist. In 2010 she transferred to Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues Geneva, first working in its front office and guest relations departments before becoming part of the team that launched the historical Hotel’s new Spa Mont Blanc in 2013. When she heard that Four Seasons was opening its first address in South Africa, she jumped at the opportunity to work for her favourite company back in her home country.
TANYA LOPES After studying Somatology in Portugal, Tanya Lopes started her career in London where she spent six years at the well-known Sanctuary Day Spa in Covent Garden. On her return to South Africa in 2007, Tanya spent five years with the Spas of Distinction before moving into consulting. Currently Tanya is the Spa Manager at Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa, having joined them in 2015.
JOHN LAMBROUJohn Lambrou is the Managing Partner of Life Day Spa Century City & Waterfront.
AMOR POTGIETERAmor is the Spa Manager of The Fairway Spa (part of the Guvon Group) in Randpark.
TARYN LILLEYTaryn is the Manager of the Spa at the Cape Grace Hotel in the V&A Waterfront. She has been involved in the spa industry since qualifying as a Somatologist in 2001. Her first taste of hospitality was in working as a therapist on the cruise liners for two years, where she developed her
true passion for everything ‘Spa’. After returning home, she worked as a therapist in a 5-star hotel before taking on her first Spa Management role in 2005. Winner of the Les Nouvelle Recognition Award for Spa Management Excellence in 2015, and the Spa Humanitarian Award in 2017, Taryn is passionate about getting spas to operate optimally and is focused on high service standards, continuous training and development of staff. As a board member of the SA Spa Association, Taryn is 100% committed to industry development, as well as to ensuring consistent quality spa experiences for all Cape Grace spa visitors.
